Papantonis Winery: A Legacy of Winemaking Since 1979

Situated in the picturesque town of Argos, Papantonis Winery is nestled near the charming village of Malandreni. The estate boasts stunning views of the surrounding landscape and spans 50 acres of lush vineyards. In 2002, Papantonis Winery became the first to produce high-quality sweet wines from the Agiorgitiko grape variety, showcasing the unique terroir of the Nemea region.

Founded in 1992 by brothers Antonis and Kalli Papantonis, the winery's roots trace back to their vineyard acquisition in Nemea in 1979.

Award-Winning White Wines

Before establishing the winery, the Papantonis brothers spent over a decade honing their skills in viticulture and winemaking. Their dedication paid off in 2005 when they crafted an award-winning white wine by blending Roditis and Chardonnay grapes. This commitment to quality has positioned Papantonis Winery as a respected name in the wine industry.

Handpicked Grapes for Quality Wines

Following Kalli's departure in 2008, Antonis focused on cultivating two prominent Greek varieties: Agiorgitiko and Roditis, along with some Chardonnay. The vineyard's rich, well-draining soils promote the slow ripening of grapes, ensuring optimal flavor development. Today, Papantonis Winery produces exceptional red and white wines, as well as delightful dessert wines, all crafted from carefully handpicked grapes.

A small and special winery. We arrived uncoordinated and were greeted with a welcome and an explanation of the production process throughout the winery. Amazing wines and warm and loving hospitality. Highly recommended.

We dropped in randomly and Antonis was a wonderful host. They showed us around and let us try their very good wines along with a host of small bites. The hospitality on display is really second to none. Antonis shared history and conversation with us and we departed with some great wines. This was one of the more unique things we’ve done in Greece and will be incredibly memorable.

Best experience in Greece by far! We visited the winery after a day trip to Mycenas. We just showed up there without reservation. Antonis and Giorgia showed us around, told us everything about their winery and gave us great food and generous glasses of wine. The wine is really good, some of the best one we have tried on our trip to the Peloponnese. If we ever come back, we will pay them another visit for sure!

We loved this vineyard, very welcoming and generous even though we had not booked. The white and red wine are excellent! A very nice moment spent in the company of Mrs. Georgia and Mr. Papantonis.
