Experience the Art of Nemea Winemaking in Greece
Papantonis Winery: A Legacy of Winemaking Since 1979
Situated in the picturesque town of Argos, Papantonis Winery is nestled near the charming village of Malandreni. The estate boasts stunning views of the surrounding landscape and spans 50 acres of lush vineyards. In 2002, Papantonis Winery became the first to produce high-quality sweet wines from the Agiorgitiko grape variety, showcasing the unique terroir of the Nemea region.
Founded in 1992 by brothers Antonis and Kalli Papantonis, the winery's roots trace back to their vineyard acquisition in Nemea in 1979.
Award-Winning White Wines
Before establishing the winery, the Papantonis brothers spent over a decade honing their skills in viticulture and winemaking. Their dedication paid off in 2005 when they crafted an award-winning white wine by blending Roditis and Chardonnay grapes. This commitment to quality has positioned Papantonis Winery as a respected name in the wine industry.
Handpicked Grapes for Quality Wines
Following Kalli's departure in 2008, Antonis focused on cultivating two prominent Greek varieties: Agiorgitiko and Roditis, along with some Chardonnay. The vineyard's rich, well-draining soils promote the slow ripening of grapes, ensuring optimal flavor development. Today, Papantonis Winery produces exceptional red and white wines, as well as delightful dessert wines, all crafted from carefully handpicked grapes.
