Four Generations and Many Decades Later

The Saperas family continues to make exceptional banyuls in the style of their forefathers along the coastline of Banyuls and Port-Vendres. Using practices dating back to over four generations. Their traditional wines are made from the 10 hectares of vines terraced on the pre-Cambrian schist rock unique to the region.

Vineyards filed with Grenache

All the work in the Magneres vineyards is done manually. 90% of the vineyards are filled with old vines of Grenache, that give low yields but are supplemented by the traditional vinification methods to create some of the finest Banyuls of the region. This vinification done in a traditional style gives the wines their elegance and complexity.

Thanks to Damien for the tasting, the advice, and all the know-how passed on during our visit. The wines were excellent and we enjoyed delving into the traditions and history of the estate. We will come back without hesitation.

A super interesting tasting! Damien really took the time to explain the entire production chain from grape to bottle to us in a much more personal setting than other local cellars! We had a great time! We recommend 100%

A big thank you to Damien, Catherine and Luc for their welcome. Superb Collioure as well as very great Banyuls to taste (in moderation). You can find quite a few of those in the area. But at Vial Magneres, we also feel the passion, the kindness, the love of the land and good wine. And great competence and humility. There are none left but the tasting of “Saut dans l’slip” a few years ago remains memorable. I can only advise you to go there. You have to find the domain that is in the flat village, not just on the seafront or inland. From the town hall about 5 minutes walk. Not far at all. You won't regret it. Happy tasting and happy shopping.

You will find this winemaker just outside the busy streets in Banyuls sur Mer. You enter the site through a gate and it is easy to park there. The welcome was nice, we were given a short tour of the cave. They make both the traditional fortified Banyuls and Collioure wines.
