Dourakis Winery: A Legacy of Greek Winemaking

Located in the picturesque village of Alikampos, Dourakis Winery is conveniently situated near the renowned wine regions of Rethymno and Chania. This family-owned winery welcomes over 20,000 visitors each year, offering engaging wine tastings and informative estate tours. The winery also provides a charming venue for private meetings, exhibitions, and special events, making it a perfect choice for memorable gatherings.

Dourakis Winery is a boutique establishment featuring multiple vineyards and a state-of-the-art wine cellar, which began with just a handful of barrels.

The Dourakis Family: Passionate Winemakers

Founded by Andreas Dourakis in the early 1980s, the winery opened its doors to visitors in 1988. Initially operating from a modest shed with limited barrels, Dourakis Winery has transformed into a fully solar-powered boutique winery, complete with expansive vineyards and a spacious cave wine cellar. The Dourakis family is dedicated to producing high-quality wines, exporting their products to Europe, China, Canada, and the USA.

Traditional Viticulture Practices

Committed to sustainability, the Dourakis family employs traditional viticulture methods to cultivate a diverse range of grape varieties. Notable grapes grown on the estate include Vilana, Vidiano, Muscat of Spinas, Malvasia, and Madilari, alongside other premium varietals such as Kotsifali, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery also hosts various culinary events, art exhibitions, and concerts, providing a unique setting for weddings, christenings, and birthday celebrations, all complemented by exquisite wine and food pairings.

Best wines in the eastern part of Crete. Pass by for a wine tasting and grab a couple of bottles to drink while on vacation. The production is small and of high quality.

A really great garden around the house. The ladies are very friendly and describe their wines very nicely. English is no problem. You can come by any time for a 5 or 8-part wine tasting. We only had a couple of starters for dinner, but it was one of the best I had on Crete. Highly recommended.

Great discovery. Great moment in all simplicity. Warm welcome, the wines are well explained in English and are good, with local grape varieties that are different from what we are used to finding in France. Generous tasting. Thank you for this good time.

I stopped by for a tasting. Because it pours so much I also ordered some Cretan food. It was very delicious. The olive oil on the bread was also delicious so I got that with the wine.

Modern wine Shop with atmospheric patio! We chose the tasting with the 5 most popular ones and enjoyed the nice atmosphere on the patio. Food at neighbours table looked very good and the cooking class next to us made also a very entertaining & authentic impression!
