Experience the rich heritage of Patriotis wines from the sun-drenched hills of Chania, Crete
Four Generations of Perseverance in Winemaking
About Our Winery
Patriotis Winery is a family-owned boutique winery located in the picturesque village of Vouves in Chania, Crete. With a legacy spanning four generations, we craft wines that reflect our unique terroir and embody our family's dedication to quality. Our focus is on producing honest, low-intervention wines from sustainably grown grapes, following traditional old-world French methods. Each bottle represents our commitment to excellence and the rich flavors of our land.
The Legacy of Patriotis
The story of Patriotis Winery began in the early 1900s when George Stylianoudakis, affectionately known as Patriotis, transported a massive 1.5-ton Italian wood barrel uphill to Vouves. Despite limited resources, his determination and hard work laid the foundation for our family business. Tragically, he passed away at the age of 50 during harvest, but his legacy lives on through the generations that followed, each passing down the skills and knowledge essential for winemaking.
The Unique Microclimate of Vouves
The distinctive character of our wines originates in our vineyards. Our Mavropila vineyards, situated on the east-facing slopes of the Vouves valley, offer stunning views of the Aegean Sea. The grape varieties we cultivate are well-suited to our terroir, showcasing their unique characteristics and regional expressions. The combination of soil and climate results in complex wines with rich aromas and flavors, making each sip a reflection of our land.
