The family had a long experience in winemaking; their priority being rare and local wines. The family is greatly appreciated and credited for reviving three ancient Cretan varieties: Dafni, Plyto and the most recent ‘vineyard treasure’ Melissaki.
A Story of the Winery and their Terriors
Lyrarakis Winery has their estate in the region of Alagni in Central Crete in Greece at an altitute of 480 m above sea level. the view of the Lassithi mountaings and the vineyard of Psarades provide a picturesque setting for your wine adventures. There, you can walk around the vines, learn more about the indigenous grapes and the wine making cultures of Crete. Here, you can taste wines made with Plyto, Dafni, Melissaki, Vilana Vidiano, Muscat of Spina, Kotsifali, Liatiko and Mandilari getting the rich nutrients they need. And the nutrients and the care they get are proudly featured in the quality wines that are produced.
