In the small town of Adriani Drama, Drama in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace in Greece lies the winery Manolesakis. The Manolesaki family is engaged in viticulture and winemaking since 1989, a crucial period that coincides with the start of the vineyards of the region.
About the Owner
George Manolesakis winery is one of the first to revive viticulture in this historic area, who with the help of his son Stavros Manolesakis, is personally involved in all the work of cultivating the vineyards & producing the wine of the estate and make sure that it is preserved. They have the utmost respect for the orders of Nature in parallel with the optimization of the viticultural & production process so that the vines can give the typical characteristics of the microclimate of the area, the initial goal of this effort.
Grape Varieties
In 1998, the facilities of the winery were completed with a state-of-the-art wine production unit with an area of 1500 square kilometers in the heart of the privately owned vineyard of 200 acres on the slopes of Adriani, a few kilometers outside the city of Drama. And in 2004, the constant search led to new crops of Greek indigenous varieties such as Malagouzia, Moschato Muscat of Alexandria, Assyrtiko, and Agiorgitiko, while in 2008 the Greek varieties Moschomavro and Limnio were added and in 2014 the Pinot noir variety. The other grape varieties in the vineyards are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah.
The visitors to the winery have the opportunity to know everything about the winemaking and the history of the winery and have a ride in the vineyards. The winery produces excellent red, white, and rose wines.
