The Region of Epanomi

The region of Epanomi is placed on the slightly elevated hills of the Thermaikou peninsula, which divides the bay of Thessaloniki from the Thermaic Gulf and is surrounded by the beautiful Mediterranean Sea from the South, East, and West. The Greek paradise of Chalkidiki is 30 miles to the east and a few miles to the west thrones Mount Olympus, home to the ancient Greek gods, impressively reigning the scenery. Combined with sandy loam soils, constantly blowing winds, and an extraordinary micro-climate, this peninsula provides Florian with ideal conditions for cultivating their authentic wine varieties.

The Winery of Florian

The family-run, boutique winery is located in Northern Greece, in the well-known wine region of Epanomi. Domaine Florian is the result of a long family tradition in viticulture and winemaking. The goal has always been to produce authentic wines with their character, boasting all the strengths of each vintage and showcasing the diverse grape variety. For the red wines and barriques, they built an underground cellar with a natural clay floor covered in marble split to provide perfect humidity and steady temperatures for the oak casks. Stabilization and fining of the wine are done by natural means; mainly, temperature drop and egg white, full fermentation of existing fruit sugars, and lowest possible use of sulfites. Fermentation is considered complete when it naturally stops. Filtration of wines is kept to a minimum to maintain the richness and spectrum of all flavors in each bottle.
