A Winery That Goes A Long Way Back

Four kilometres from Naoussa, the Estate Chrisohoou sits on the southeastern slopes of Mount Vermion.
In 1948, Chrishoou family started production and bottling of wine, ouzo, brandy, liqueur, and vermouth. In 1977, Kimis Chrishoou wedded Betty and began the renowned Estate Chrishoou together. The couple expanded their winery across 10 hectares in Strantza Naoussas. In 1994, Chrishouus started a well- equipped small wine factory. He introduced a tasting room and of production area in the winery in 1998.

The couple also opened a small museum within the factory. The museum showcases many viticulture and enological objects like wooden winepresses, old demijohns, bottling, cork, and labeling machines, etc. The winery of Chrisohoou Estate combines Naousa’s wine tradition and their family’s tradition of winemaking with modern techniques.

Greek Grape Varieties

This privately-owned winery produces white, red, and rose wines. A famous wine from 1971, known as Xinomavro Naoussa, is a type of red wine. They use a wide variety of grapes, including Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Ugni Blanc, for their wines. Chrishoous use Priknadi, a traditional and rare white Greek grape variety, to make their world-famous Prekniariko. The vineyards enjoy an appropriate temperature, humidity, and sunlight required for maturing and aging of the vines.
