Petralona Winery is a family-based estate located in a charming village of Petralona in Chalkidiki. It is a short drive away from the lush countryside of Triglia. Today, the wine company is surrounded by family-owned vineyards and olive fields, delivering excellent grapes and olives. Together with wines, the estate produces rich-quality extra virgin olive oil, enriched with minerals & nutrients.
In 2003, the Petralona Winery was founded, focusing on top-quality wine production.
Undergoing Many Positive Changes through the Years
After graduating and working in a renowned pharmaceutical company for several years, Christos Kalaitzis started his own pharma business & spinal implants. At the same time, he wanted to carry out his family’s legacy of winemaking. Later in 2003, Christos, along with Dmitris, founded the Petralona Winery, focusing on producing top-quality wines from his grapes.Regarding the family’s traditional methods, combined with innovative techniques, the wine cellar has undergone many changes over the years. Many advanced types of machinery have been installed. All the stages, from vineyards’ care, harvesting, fermentation, aging, refining, and bottling, are performed under the owners’ attention.
Xinomavro and Sauvignon Blanc, the Main Grown Varieties
Accommodated the area of three hectares, the vines enjoy microclimate and fertile terroirs throughout the year. All the vineyards are cultivated organically, where the owner produces a wide range of grapes. The vine varieties include top-class Greek Merlot, Xinomavro, and Sauvignon Blanc. Christos as well grows unique Vidiano in some patches of vineyards. These vines are manually collected after ripening season to produce high-end red, white, and rose wines, all within Chalkidiki’s finest appellation regions.
