Ias Winery blends Georgian heritage, natural wines, and warm hospitality, offering immersive cultural experiences and family-style agrotourism.
Ias Winery – A Story of Heritage, Wine & Warm Georgian Hospitality
Ias Winery began with a remarkable discovery – an old, hidden family wine cellar in the backyard of a Gurjaani home, containing 19 traditional qvevri (clay vessels). These vessels once belonged to the ancestors of Ia’s husband, a native of Gurjaani. Together, Ia and her husband lovingly restored the historic wine cellar and family home, giving them new life and purpose.
Since 2020, Ias Winery has welcomed visitors as an agrotourism destination, offering not only natural wines but also a range of artisan products and immersive cultural experiences.
Guests can taste a variety of wines made from grapes grown in the estate’s own vineyards, including:
- Traditional qvevri wines
- European-style dry whites, rosés, and reds, crafted with care and creativity
But a visit to Ias Winery is more than just wine – it’s about becoming part of a Georgian family for a day.
A Taste of Georgian Tradition
At Ia’s table, the Georgian supra is led with a toastmaster (tamada) following the age-old rituals of hospitality and storytelling. Before the feast begins, guests are invited to roll up their sleeves and join in:
🥟 Make khinkali (Georgian dumplings)
🍇 Make tatara (grape pudding) and dip churchkhela
🔥 Bake bread in a tone oven, and gather your own vinewood for grilling mtsvadi (barbecue)
🍷 Join the harvest in autumn, where fun and tradition go hand in hand
And just like we say in Georgia – “Feel at home, even when you're far from home.”
For those who wish to stay longer, Ias Winery offers comfortable overnight accommodation in a family-style guesthouse that hosts up to 8 people – perfect for travelers who want to relax, reconnect, and wake up among the vines.
