Biodiversity of Great Importance in Grape Cultivation
The winemaking history of the Malevizi region is ancient, dating back to the times of Romans. Venerato has been a renowned wine region for centuries, and its wines were named under the Malvazia label. The oenologists – Laderos Vasilis and Volitaki Calliope – have revitalized the ancient winepresses to deliver top-class wines with remarkable experience & achievements.
With enormous respect for biodiversity, the estate cultivates an extensive range of grapes, including Vidiano, Vilana, and Thraspathiri, to produce top-notch white wines. It also grows traditional local vine varieties such as Liatiko, Mandilari, and Kotsifali to produce red wines. Some European grapes, such as Syrah, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon, are combined to create new combinations. Along with luscious red and white wines, Idaia Winery also crafts excellent rosé and dessert wines.
