Le Cimate: A Family Tradition in Umbria

Located in the picturesque region of Montefalco, Le Cimate Winery is a family-owned establishment with a rich history spanning three generations. The Bartoloni family has dedicated their lives to viticulture, starting with grandfather Paolo, who focused on vine growing. His son Giovanni took bold steps to build one of the most modern wineries in the area, and now grandson Paolo, armed with a degree in agricultural studies, continues the family legacy by producing exceptional wines.

Exceptional Wines from Le Cimate

Le Cimate spans 184 hectares, with 23 hectares dedicated to vineyards. Here, they cultivate a variety of grapes, including Sagrantino, Trebbiano Spoletino, Vermentino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tannat, Viognier, Chardonnay, Grechetto, and Sangiovese. This diverse selection allows them to create some of the finest wines in Umbria, such as Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG, Montefalco Rosso DOC, and Trebbiano Spoletino DOC. They also produce a delightful dessert wine, Sagrantino Montefalco DOCG Passito.

Olive Oil Tasting Experience

Visitors are welcome to the tasting room at Le Cimate, where they can sample their exquisite wines and high-quality olive oil, paired with local cold cuts and cheeses. If you're planning a trip to the Umbria region, a visit to Le Cimate Winery offers a wonderful opportunity to savor the flavors of this beautiful area.

Great cellar and great wines. The owner tells his story with great passion, which makes the visit particularly enjoyable. Try the tasting, in addition to the wines you will also taste a really delicious chocolate spread, obviously made by them. Definitely worth further visits.

Very nice winery, the tasting was excellent. They also press olive oil there. They also have a hazelnut plantation and make a hazelnut cream...10x better than Nutella.

A particularly successful event: a tour of the wine cellar, the union of barriques and the latest technology, and tastings of Vermentino, Trebbiano Spoletino and Saudade, accompanied by seasonal tastings with a soft jazz background! Three generations in this cellar: grandfather, father and the current owner Paolo. Entrepreneurship and professionalism cannot be improvised: they are handed down with passion and love, they are always cultivated and refined, as has happened here!

We’ve been coming here since discovering their wines in 2022. Valentina is a lovely host, and Paolo makes great wines. Whether you like white, rose, or red wines, there is surely something you will enjoy here. The new tasting room is beautiful, and the wines are lovely. Absolutely recommend for trying a variety of Umbrian wines without hesitation.
