Domaine Sylvie Fahrer and Fils, Wine Production Since 1932
Domaine Sylvie Fahrer and Fils in Alsace is a winery established by Joseph Fahrer back in 1932. In the beginning, wine production was mainly for personal consumption, as well as a farm for animal breeding and gardening. His wine business started with the sale of 600 bottles from a simple sign in front of the home stating “wine sale.” Tourism was also the main attraction for local tourists for several years. In the middle of war and difficulties, Joseph Fahrer did not lose hope and kept working towards his passion of wine production. He and his wife, Liliane, passed the business down to the second generation so they could take it further creating the cellar and a sales area to illustrate the wines to the public as rich and fruit forward. Creating acclaim for the family domain was the primary purpose of Domaine Sylvie Fahrer and Fils’ wine endeavours.
Domaine Sylvie Fahrer and Fils – a Family-Run Winery
The third generation, Sylvie- a passionate winemaker and nature lover took control of the business and began preserving the property of the family. Continuing to market and sell the wine was tough after the death of Armand-instigator of Fahrer domain development in 1992. In the year 1998, Sylvie asked the company of Yvan for aid and business again began to rise including the wine tours and tastnigs at Domaine Sylvie Fahrer and Fils. The winery is currently run successfully by the fourth generation of Fahrers. The vineyards of the winery are around 10 hectares and located in Saint Hippolyte and Rorschwihr.
