Quinta do Sanguinhal is a fifth-generation estate producing wines for over 100 years located in Bombarral in the Lisbon region of Portugal. The winery is surrounded by beautiful 19th century gardens around includes an old family house.

Quinta do Sanguinhal was planted by the founder of parent company Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal (CAS), Abel Pereira da Fonseca in the 1920s. At Quinta do Sanguinhal he planted over 30 different varieties of grapes to study their adaptability. The vineyards at already historic estate prospered and today a huge diversity of varieties are produced such as Castelão, Aragonez, Touriga Nacional, Petit Verdot,Merlot, Syrah, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Arinto, Fernão Pires, Vital, Moscatel, Rabo de Ovelha, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay. From these, the estate produces wine such as Quinta do Sanguinhal DOC Óbidos, Sôttal and Sanguinhal varietals. The winery also produces red wine, white wine, rosé, sparkling, dessert and fortified wine and more.
Taste some delicious liquors and spirits
Furthermore, the winery is where the liquor and spirits produced by the Companhia Agrícola do Sanguinhal are aged either in wooden barrels or bottles. The property also includes an old distillery that was used until 1970 to produce brandies and grappa and is now open for tours. The Pereira da Fonseca family owns Quinta do Sanguinhal and maintains the traditional, idyllic atmosphere of the historic estate. Every year they welcome thousands of wine tourists.
