A Coastal Winery with Rich Heritage and Flavorful Wines
The Unique Terroir of Quinta do Monte d’Oiro
Quinta do Monte d’Oiro, nestled in the Lisbon Wine Region, boasts a rich history dating back to the 17th century. This winery benefits from a unique terroir characterized by clay-limestone soils and a strong Atlantic influence, with the ocean just 20 km away. These natural elements contribute to the wines' remarkable freshness, elegance, and balance. The vineyard practices plot management and is 100% certified organic, focusing on low-yield production to enhance quality. In the winery, meticulous attention is given to the aging process, utilizing premium French oak barrels to develop the wines' complex flavors.
A Visionary Family Project
The winery is the realization of a dream by José Bento dos Santos, a distinguished gastronomist and wine collector with a passion for Côte du Rhône wines. As the former President of the International Academy of Gastronomy and a member of Les Psychologues du Goût, his expertise laid the foundation for this family venture. The winemaking team, led by Graça Gonçalves and guided by Grégory Viennois—former Chief Winemaker of Maison M. Chapoutier—has consistently produced award-winning wines since the inaugural harvest in 1997. Their dedication to quality has earned them numerous accolades both in Portugal and internationally.
