Patruno Perniola Winery: Organic Winemaking in Apulia

Nestled in the picturesque hills of the Murgia region near Gioia Del Colle, Patruno Perniola is an organic winery situated on a unique karst plateau in Apulia. This estate offers a charming historic farmhouse that serves as a welcoming retreat for wine enthusiasts. Guests can enjoy their stay in a beautifully refurbished agro-touristic hotel while savoring the exquisite wines produced by Patruno Perniola.

A Legacy of Winemaking

The winery's story began in 1821 with the ancestors of Paolo Patruno, who dedicated themselves to organic grape production from the start. This passion for crafting exceptional wines has been passed down through generations, with the Patruno family committed to creating some of Italy's finest wines.

Among the winery's notable offerings are rich reds, crisp whites, rosés, sparkling wines, and delightful dessert wines, all proudly bearing the DOC Gioia Del Colle label.

Signature Varieties: Primitivo and Verdeca

The vineyards at Patruno Perniola thrive under traditional viticulture practices, cultivating high-quality Primitivo di Gioia del Colle and Verdeca grapes. These two varieties are the cornerstone of the winery's production. Surrounded by lush vines, the historic farmhouse provides stunning views of the landscape. Adjacent to the farmhouse, the wine cellar is where carefully selected grapes are transformed into wine.

Inside the cellar, a dedicated area for aging and refining wine features neatly arranged barrels, barriques, and stainless steel tanks. The winery prioritizes organic farming, rich biodiversity, and modern winemaking techniques, ensuring a harmonious relationship with nature.

Beautiful property, Paolo and his family are extremely hospitable, friendly and detailed in describing their wines, from production to tasting. The visit and tasting are highly recommended (costs 10 euros, absolutely more than deserved). Excellent wines at great prices. Go there.

We had the pleasure of staying for three days at the Perniola estate, a quiet and relaxing place surrounded by vineyards. Furthermore, the room and bathroom are clean. In recent days we have been welcomed very well by Rosanna and Paolo, very cultured people. The breakfast is plentiful and refined. The dinner that was prepared for us with local products was delicious. During dinner, Paolo gave us a small explanation of each dish and other very interesting information of various kinds. The wine they produce is excellent. I highly recommend Tenuta Patruno Perniola for the tranquility of the place, the kindness and courtesy of Paolo and Rosanna. Moira and Nicola

Out of the small city, between olives & wine you can sleep in peace, eat like a gourmand, be served like a king. Hospitality is amazing, animals will love you. But when you will try a taste of wine 🍷.... poetry in motion. If you need place to sleep and start your day around Puglia with gorgeous breakfast...... All the best.

This summer we had the pleasure of staying 4 days at Tenuta Patruno Perniola. The two mini apartments made available were beautiful and very well looked after. Paolo, his mother and Rosanna made us feel immediately at ease with their friendliness and hospitality. I had the pleasure, speaking with Paolo, of listening to the history of the farm and his passion for wines which led him to achieve great goals. The breakfast, curated by Rosanna, was complete and abundant enriched with products grown by them. Paolo's mother, a strong, pleasant and very cultured woman, passionate about ceramics, showed us every part of the farm and told us "the history" of the estate. We had a very good time and, if there is an opportunity, we will return with great pleasure.
