Txakoli Basa Lore – A Legacy of Winemaking

Located in the picturesque northern region of Zarautz, just a stone's throw from the ocean and 30 minutes from the French border, Txakoli Basa Lore has been a family-owned winery since 1930. Now in its fourth generation, the winery proudly upholds the rich winemaking traditions of the Basque Country. The name Basa Lore translates to 'Flor del Bosque,' reflecting the vibrant green hues of Txakoli as it fills the glass. With a blend of modern techniques and time-honored practices, Basa Lore produces exceptional Txakoli wines that showcase the unique terroir of the region.

The winery specializes in the native Hondarrabi Zuri and Hondarrabi Beltza grape varieties, crafting both white and rosé wines.

DO Getariako Txakolina: Authenticity Guaranteed

Txakoli Basa Lore is proud to be part of the Getariako Txakolina Designation of Origin, which ensures the authenticity of its grapes and winemaking methods. The winery's six hectares of vineyards are dedicated to cultivating their own grapes, resulting in fresh and vibrant wines that embody the essence of the region. The rosé Txakoli, made from a blend of both grape varieties, features a delicate pink hue and a well-balanced structure. With a fruit-forward profile and refreshing salinity, this wine typically has an alcohol content of 11%.

Traditional Winemaking with Minimal Intervention

At Txakoli Basa Lore, the winemaking process honors the techniques passed down through generations. The owners maintain a hands-off approach, allowing the wine to express its natural flavors. Visitors to the winery can enjoy stunning views of the ocean and the beautiful Zarautz beach from the balcony, making it a perfect spot for wine lovers and travelers alike.

Excellent explanation about the vineyard, the process and storage of wine. Our guide Jon was very kind and gave us some nice and savory snacks to taste along with the different wines. Ask him anything about the wines and he knows! Very recommendable, would love to come back here someday again to buy their tasty and very affordable wine selection.

A great visit: booking is easy, fast and very friendly La Bodega: It is small, family owned and very nice to take photos of the cozy atmosphere. The views: great, at the top you can see the city, the coast and the vineyards are impressive. The management of the vines is spectacular and ensures a ceiling height of about 180cm. (Vineyard) The visit: We were visited by Nerea, 4th generation of Basa Lore, a person who welcomes you with joy and tells you about the winery and the history of the wine from a sincere and honest perspective. The wines: Very interesting, a good structure unlike other txakolis in the area. He also told us about the “experiments” they are doing and how the market has received them. Very interesting for all the places that export. The tasting: We were served 3 different varieties from the tank. A different experience that is always appreciated. Along with this they serve very good snacks from the region. We were very lucky as we were there with our children (6 and 3) and they were playing with Nerea's lovely daughters. Anyway, if you are passing by, don't hesitate to visit Basa Lore. Cost: Very good value for money. And buying the wine there is even cheaper. Eduard

We had a very pleasant guided tour. The winery was very authentic, taking great care of the grapes and the product, making a difference in the merely commercial aspect; Ion, who explained everything to us in detail, shows that he feels and believes in what he does, a risky bet in these times, that of achieving an indigenous production in accordance with his ideas, but which makes a difference with the rest. The tasting of the txskolis, well paired with local products, very good, and the final "surprise" that is personal and particular to Ion, as it says a lot about him and his winery. Without a doubt, it is worth it.
