Txakoli Basa Lore – a Family-Owned Winery Since 1930
Txakoli Basa Lore is a winery located in the northern part of Zarautz, right on the edge of the ocean, next to San Sebastian, 30 minutes away from the border of France. This family winery in operation since 1930, is currently run by the fourth generation of the family and continues their Basque Country winemaking traditions. Basa Lore means ‘Flor del Bosque’ in Spanish that shows the bubbling and green tones of the Txakoli when it goes into the glass. With plenty of experience and knowledge in winemaking, Basa Lore Winery has produced excellent quality Txakoli by combining modern and innovative techniques and machinery with traditional methods.
Txakoli Basa Lore Winery uses the native Hondarrabi Zuri and Hondarrabi Beltza grape varieities for their white and rosé wines.
DO Getariako Txakolina, Guaranting the True Origin of Wines from the Region
The Getariako Txakolina Designation of Origin guarantees the origin of Txakoli Basa Lore’s grapes and the methods used to produce Txakoli wines. Their vineyards are spread over an area of six hectares as they grow all of their own grapes for their wines. The native Hondarrabi Zuri and Hondarrabi Beltza grape varieties are used to create fresh, zippy wines that reflect the wines most famous to the region. Rosé Txakoli is made with the combination of the two grapes and has a slight pink color and still a great amount of balance and structure. This wine has a standout frui forward taste with elegant aromatic and intensity in freshness, salinity, with 11% alcohol.
Human Intervention During Winemaking is Minimal at the Winery
The owners of Txakoli Basa Lore Winery still use the old methods that their grandparents have used to make Txakoli. Human intervention during the winemaking process is minimal, and the wine is allowed to retain its natural taste. Visitors to he winery can enjoy elegant ocean views and the beach of Zarautz from their balcony.
