Hiruzta Bodega – a Family-Owned Winery Established in 2012

Hiruzta Bodega, established in 2012 and is the creation of a father and his two sons in the Rekalde Family. The name of the winery comes from a loose translation meaning a three-person harvest, referring to the owners and it encompasses the heart and soul of their project. Hiruzta Bodega is located in the small fishing town of Hondarribia, in the Basque Country in the north of Spain, quite close to the border of France.

The wines of Hiruzta Bodega have won multiple international awards in several competitions.

17 Hectares of Vineyards Near the Winery, Growing Hondarrabi Zuri, Hondarrabi Beltza, and Gros Manseng Grape Varieties

Hiruzta Bodega Winery owns roughly 11 hectares of vineyards surrounding the winery and protected by the beautiful Jaizkibel Mountains. The grape varieties grown in their vineyards are local Basque varieties of Hondarrabi Zuri, Hondarrabi Beltza, and Gros Manseng. The native Hondarrabi Zuri is the most important grape variety in the vineyard. They produce Txakoli style wines within the Denominación de Origen Getariako Txakolina. Even though it is a young organization, Hiruzta Bodega has earned a good reputation all over the world and delivers wines to more than 20 different countries. Their wines have also won multiple international awards in several competitions.
