Sidras Bereziartua: A Legacy of Cider-Making

Founded in 1870, Sidras Bereziartua is a family-owned cider producer located in the heart of the Basque Country. Originally established in Ergobia, the company moved to its current facilities in Astigarraga in 1970. With a deep respect for their loyal customers, Sidras Bereziartua has become a prominent name in the natural cider industry. They blend traditional methods with modern technology, utilizing over 60 wooden and stainless steel barrels, each with a capacity of more than 1,000 liters, along with two refrigerated warehouses for optimal fermentation.

Quality Apples from the Basque Country

The team at Sidras Bereziartua is dedicated to sourcing the finest apple varieties from France, Galicia, and local orchards. Their commitment to promoting Basque products has led to a revival of local apple cultivation, supported by the Eusko Label. The cider undergoes careful fermentation in their cellar, ensuring that it reaches the perfect flavor profile before bottling. Each green glass bottle is meticulously cleaned to prevent any contact with water, preserving the cider's quality. Bottles made with local Basque apples proudly display the EUSKO LABEL sticker, signifying their authenticity.

We'd never been before and we loved it. The txotx area was very spacious and clean, the barrels were enormous, and this year the cider was excellent. The food was excellent, with the cod in sauce and the steak being particularly noteworthy.

A cider house with a cinema decor, we eat directly from the dish with our cutlery, the meat is cooked on electric hotplates, which takes away some of the authentic taste of smoking meat cooked over a wood fire, otherwise everything is good, you can only drink cider or water on site. No wine...

Berreziartua is another of the great cider houses in Astigarraga. A spacious room with long tables to enjoy the cider house menu accompanied by txot in the gallery of wooden barrels. The cod omelette is tasty, well made, with the perfect setting point. The fried cod with peppers is very fresh, with good flavour. The txuleta is tender, with its perfect fat, very good flavour and perfectly roasted. For dessert, the classic walnuts and cheese with quince. Good quality, attentive and fast service. We tried different kupelas. The cider is good with an advanced point of maturation. Bereziartua is a very good option, it never fails.
