Four Generations of Winemaking Heritage

Varvaglione 1921 is a family-owned winery located in the picturesque Salento region of Puglia, Italy. Managed by Maria and Cosimo Varvaglione, along with their three children, this winery boasts a rich history spanning four generations. Their mission is to harness the unique characteristics of their land to produce high-quality wines. By combining local grape varieties with the right techniques, they create wines that reflect the essence of Puglia. The winery harmonizes traditional values with cutting-edge technology and winemaking equipment.

Wines That Reflect Their Unique Terroir

Cosimo Varvaglione, the winemaker and owner, is dedicated to sharing the story of their terroir through wine. The winery's goal is to encapsulate the culture and essence of their land in every bottle. With meticulous care, the team tends to the vineyards, ensuring that every grape is handpicked during the harvest. This attention to detail, along with ongoing research and quality control, results in wines that are both exceptional and authentic.

Innovative Practices for Superior Quality

The winery benefits from clayey red soil and a mild climate, ideal for cultivating a variety of grapes. Varvaglione 1921 grows Primitivo, Negroamaro, Malvasia, Fiano, Verdeca, Aglianico, Falanghina, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon. The best grapes are selected for crafting their exquisite range of red, white, rosé, sparkling, and dessert wines. The family’s passion for winemaking, combined with a commitment to innovation, ensures that both the land and the quality of their wines are continuously enhanced.

Great experience! We had a lovely and very informative (private) tour followed by a tasting. We started at the private mansion and then had the tasting in the second location at the production. Can really recommend and if we return to Puglia, we will definitely visit again. Do book in advance!

A large cellar, elegant and refined. A historic brand I would say, where you can buy a certain number of wines, from white, to rosé, to red, all of excellent quality, at very convenient prices. The sales staff is extremely kind and polite. Compliments.

Historic cellar. Excellent selection of wines both in bulk and in bottles: semi-sweet and dry primitivo, negramaro, white malvasia, black malvasia, chardonay, etc. The loose sweet primitivo is excellent, full-bodied and fragrant. I have tried several bottled wines and they are excellent. The girl who served us was kind and professional. Excellent quality/price ratio.
