22 Hectares of Vineyards in Castilla y León

The Toro region is characterized by its extreme continental climate, ideal for viticulture. The sandy and clay-rich soil, along with the rolling hills, provides excellent conditions for vine growth. The Hornija and Duero Rivers enhance the landscape, while the harsh winters and mild summers contribute to the unique flavor profiles of the grapes. With approximately 400 mm of rainfall and significant temperature variations between day and night, the conditions are perfect for cultivating high-quality grapes.
Vinaguarena Cellar spans 22 hectares, where modern winemaking techniques meet a passion for quality, resulting in exceptional wines.

Tinta de Toro: The Local Tempranillo

At Vinaguarena Cellar, the local variety Tinta de Toro, a type of Tempranillo, along with Garnacha, are the primary grapes used for red wines. For white wine production, Verdejo grapes are cultivated. The wines crafted from Tinta de Toro are particularly celebrated, gaining admiration from wine enthusiasts worldwide. The best grapes are meticulously selected, and after harvesting, they are aged in French oak barrels, imparting distinctive flavors and aromas to the final product.

As always, it is a pleasure to taste any of the Viñaguareña wines for our 365 Wines a Year Guide, here is a note of one of the wines tasted this year. Munia Especial 2010, a wine for enjoyment, a thirst-quenching wine as the French would say, lively, broad, direct, unpretentious and with a surprising liveliness of fruit. In the mouth it does not disappoint and is a pure reflection of the nose, with a long trajectory, enveloping tannin, very good acidity and a long finish where it leaves us with memories of the Douro.
