Celebrating the Craft of Natural Winemaking in Georgia
About the Wine Artisans
Wine Artisans is a distinguished natural winery located in the Shida Kartli region of Georgia. Founded by Andro Barnovi, a passionate winemaker with a rich background in academia and politics, this winery aims to unite local winemakers and produce exceptional natural wines that reflect the unique characteristics of the region.
The Vineyards of Wine Artisans
The vineyards of Wine Artisans thrive on the Trialeti terroirs, situated at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level, near the picturesque Trialeti Mountain Range and the village of Akhaltsikhe. This region benefits from abundant sunshine and a diverse soil composition, featuring a blend of heavy and light clay enriched with limestone and flint. Additionally, other vineyards are located along the River Tana and in Khashmi Village, close to Tbilisi, alongside the banks of the Iori River.
The Wines of Wine Artisans
Wine Artisans specializes in producing 100% natural dry red and orange wines. Their winemaking process is free from artificial yeasts, additives, sulfur, or filters, ensuring that each bottle is a true representation of the terroir. After harvesting, the wines are aged for 8-9 months in qvevri, traditional clay vessels buried in the ground. Each year, the winery crafts 6-8 distinct wines, primarily focusing on mono-cepage varieties or blends, with a commitment to producing only dry wines without coupage.
