Experience a 19th Century Georgian Wine Estate!
A Rich History of Château Mukhrani
Château Mukhrani is a testament to the long-standing wine-making tradition in the Mukhrani region of Georgia. This unique estate combines four essential elements: vineyards, a winery, a castle, and a rich heritage, making it one of the few true Georgian Royal Châteaux. Established as a prince's estate by the Bagrationi royal family in 1512, the winery was founded in the 19th century by Ivane Mukhranbatoni, who brought the concept of a Château from France. After years of neglect during the Soviet era, a group of entrepreneurs began restoring Château Mukhrani in 2002, aiming to revive its former glory and blend modern techniques with traditional practices.
The Vines of Royal Heritage
The wines of Château Mukhrani reflect a deep-rooted heritage, showcasing the passion and dedication of its makers. Through careful grape selection and traditional vinification methods, each wine is crafted to highlight its unique character. Mukhrani, meaning "decorated with oak trees," is nestled between the majestic Caucasus and Trialeti mountain ranges, providing an ideal environment for grape cultivation. The vineyards are situated on meticulously chosen plots with fertile alluvial and diluvial loamy soils. This harmonious blend of nature, tradition, and craftsmanship results in wines with a robust structure and distinctive flavor profiles.
