Tenuta La Favola, a winery at the southernmost point of Sicily

Tenuta La Favola is located in the countryside south of Noto, at the southernmost point of Sicily, in the area of Buonivini. The vast vineyards, olive groves, stone walls, and experimental organic fields cover an area of 19 hectares. The roads between the rows are white with limestone, so at night the land shines under the moonlight.

Giuseppe Di Natale, a man with a vision

In the 19th century, Giuseppe Di Natale moved from Syracuse to Pachino. He purchased several properties, including the Buonivini estate, where he cultivated Nero d’Avola vines, olive trees, and carob trees. In 1908, Don Corrado, Giuseppe’s son, took over the family business and continued his father’s work with great passion and dedication. When his daughter Maria got married, Corrado gave the estate as a dowry to her and her husband. They expanded the business and later, in 2002, changed the winery’s name to Tenuta La Favola.

Organic wine production at Tenuta La Favola

For over four generations, the family has cared for biodiversity and used renewable energy to produce wine. At Tenuta La Favola, the owners grow a variety of grapevines, including Nero d’Avola and Frappato, along with the distinctive Syrah and Grillo. Tenuta La Favola is certified organic in both Italy and Switzerland for its production of fine red, white, and dessert wines. The winery’s cellar currently has a capacity of up to 1,200 hectoliters of wine. If you’re a wine enthusiast, you can plan a short vacation in the Sicilian region of Ragusa and discover the delightful wines of Tenuta La Favola.

We were at Tenuta La Favola for Cantine Aperte 2024. A great experience. Sebastian accompanied us on a tour of the company and was always available to answer our questions. The place is enchanting. We enjoyed an excellent bottle of red wine in the cool of their garden overlooking the sea. I highly recommend a tour of this small but promising winery :)

A fantastic experience! Valeria welcomed us with great kindness and availability. She showed us around the estate before moving on to tasting the wines and oil. We were won over by the complete and consistent organic approach, but also by the quality of the products obtained. It is truly a must in the region.

We had the pleasure to take the tour with the wonderful Florencia! On arrival, she was very warm and welcoming. We went out on the vineyard and Florencia gave us a very detailed history of the Tenuta but also she was extremely knowledgeable: we learnt about the DOC requirements, the growing process and all the ecosystem around which was very interesting. Wines were delicious and the food was matching perfectly. Such an highlight of our trip. THANK YOU, it was like a "Favola" ;)

Great place to get a tour and wine tasting. Florencia gave us a tour of the fields and the production and after that a wine tasting. She was so kind and warm and gave us good stories about the place, and we felt very welcome, also by the family who owns the place.

We had a very pleasant time in the company of Sebastien. The setting is magnificent with a view of the surroundings. Family vineyard with organic vine cultivation with an impressive environmental approach. Sebastien was warm and took the time to answer our many questions. A very pleasant visit, we were delighted.
