The best season to visit wineries in Chianti

Your Content Goes HereThe climate in Tuscany is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and cold winters. The weather on the southern coast is milder, whereas the climate in the mountainous north is cooler. Below we provided some information about the best seasons to visit wineries in the Chianti region:
Spring is a wonderful time to explore Tuscany. By the end of March, the days are getting longer, and the weather is temperate and pleasant (18°- 20°C maximum), with the occasional shower. The trees are in full bloom, and the countryside is bustling with bustle and birds. (!) Keep in mind that the Easter Holidays are commonplace for Italians to visit Chianti region, and major cities such as Florence and Siena can get quite crowded throughout the weekend.

Summer is hot and crowded, but it's an excellent time to visit if you're planning a trip to the countryside or a cooler location. However, this is not the best time to go sightseeing. The hottest months are July and August, with temperatures occasionally reaching 35°C, making it rather uncomfortable, especially in Florence (that is reason prices of hotels go down in August). However, the hills and coast, where the air helps and the evenings are cooler, are more enjoyable.

Autumn in Tuscany is a gift. In late September (26°C max) and October (20°C max), temperatures are still good, towns aren't too congested, and vineyards and forests change various shades of yellow and crimson. In September, you can still go to the beach because there are fewer people and the weather is pleasant. The weather is still moderate in October, with the main negative being the occasional rain shower. The month of November is an excellent time to visit Florence because it is less crowded. It's also a perfect time to explore the best vineyards in Chianti.

The most common grape varieties and style of wines produced in Chianti

Where to stay in Chianti?According to the rules of the Chianti zone, all wines must be made from the red Sangiovese grape variety. Its name comes from the Latin Sanguis Jovis – "the blood of Jupiter". In the Medici era, the ideal was considered a wine the color of fresh blood, and this is what is obtained from Sangiovese. The content of "Jupiter's blood" in a bottle of Chianti can be from 70 to 100% (for Chianti Classico - from 80%), sometimes other local varieties are added (Canaiolo, Colorino, Malvasia Nera), as well as international Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Chianti is a traditional dry red wine of Italy, which is based on the Sangiovese variety. According to one of the world's best experts, Oz Clark, the variety with small berries, Sangiovese — or Sangioveto— is the mainstay of Chianti. Sangiovese is able to change its character depending on the soil on which it grows, and this is always used by winemakers, creating new bright nuances of the famous brand.

Best Experience I had in Italy! In English and Italian: This was truly an amazing experience for me! I had an early wine tasting, so it was just a 1 on 1 with Christina. It was more intimate than any other tasting I have ever done. It felt more like a friendly conversation than a tour. Christina was so knowledgeable and answered all of my questions (and I had a lot!) with such delight. I will be making this a must-do every time I return to Italy. Do not miss out! Amazing price, amazing wines, amazing experience, and amazing people! Each wine was more tasty than…
