Azienda Vinicola Malaspina was established in 1967 by the Malaspina family, who have dedicated themselves to producing exceptional wines from the rich, untamed land of Calabria. The family plays a vital role in the winery's operations: Consolato, the founder, serves as the cornerstone of the business, while his wife, Franca, acts as the glue that holds the team together. Their four daughters—Domenica, Caterina, Irene, and Patrizia—contribute to various aspects of management, administration, production, and promotion. The winery's cellar is where the grapes are carefully processed into exquisite wines.
Spanning 9 hectares, Azienda Vinicola Malaspina also manages 3 hectares of olive groves, where the Carolea and Nocella olives are harvested and milled to produce high-quality extra virgin olive oil. The vineyards are located in Palizzi, in the Dareri district, at an elevation of about 500 meters. Here, the Nocera and Calabrese Nero vines thrive, while in Melito di Porto Salvo, Gaglioppo and Magliocco grapes are cultivated using the espalier method. This unique terroir, combined with the family's dedication, results in wines that reflect the essence of Calabria.

Write a reviewAperitif organized by this winery at sunset. Stunning view in the middle of the vineyards with a view of the Strait. We tried two wines, a very delicate white and practically without sulphites and a wonderful rosé wine (one of the two had thorn in the name if I'm not mistaken), both presented by the organizer of the evening. The appetizer was accompanied by a fish picnic basket with fish balls, fried anchovies, mini burgers and a fried anchovy stuffed with salmon which was phenomenal. Recommended experience!

Going up from the road that leads from Melito di Porto Salvo to Gambarie d'Aspromonte you come across this historic winery. The owners, very helpful and passionate, will tell you everything. Beyond the goodness of the wines, you will like the family atmosphere which has been lost in many larger and more structured wineries: meeting those who make wine is always a great experience. I highly recommend all the wines, especially Micah (white) and Patros Pietro (red)
