With a passion for the region's rich viticultural history, Paolo aims to showcase the Savuto Valley's significance in both local and national wine production. Calabrian wines have been celebrated since ancient times, once regarded as the nectar of the gods, enjoyed by Olympic champions, warriors, royalty, and even Popes.

Exceptional Winemaking

At Le Moire, wines are crafted from native grape varieties, including Magliocco, Dolce, Greco Nero, Mantonico, Sangiovese, and Pecorello. The grapes are hand-harvested to ensure quality, then gently pressed and fermented at controlled temperatures to maintain their unique flavors. The vineyard practices organic farming, minimizing chemical use to protect the local ecosystem. Le Moire produces four distinct wines: ANNIBALE (Red), MUTE (Red), SHEMALE (Rosé), and Zaleuco (White), each reflecting the terroir of the Savuto Valley.

Scenic Vineyard Location

Le Moire's vineyards are situated on the eastern ridge of the Savuto Valley, near the historic Annibale Bridge, one of Europe's oldest and most picturesque structures. At an elevation of approximately 400 meters, the terraces gently slope down to the Savuto River. Surrounded by lush forests, the winery benefits from a thriving local ecosystem that supports the growth of its vines.

Yesterday we visited the Le Moire winery in Motta S. Lucia (CZ) and tasted some great natural wines. Superior quality and a profound love for work make this small Savuto business a small diamond in the rough. Recommended with the heart and the palate.

We visited this winery located in the province of Catanzaro in the setting of the Savuto valley, Alessia welcomed us in a very professional manner, telling us their history and their winemaking methods, the visit continued with the tasting of their 4 wines paired with typical products local. A beautiful reality that works with dedication and passion for its land.

Perhaps my favourite tasting experience. After a brief tour of the vinyard, Paolo explained the organic approach and the family story that led him and Ana to start the vinyard. We then sat down to “taste” four superb bottles of wine. After over an hour of conversing on family, culture, current affairs and, of course, wine, we took our four bottles and went on to an amazing lunch spot Paolo had recommended. An absolutely charming experience. I highly recommend.
