The Château De Chaintres winery covers around twenty hectares. It lies at the very heart of the Saumur Champigny appellation. The area includes the popular “Clos du Château” of outstanding size and exclusive appellation.

The Oratorian Fathers of Notre Dame des Ardilliers planted this vineyard in 1675. They chosed this place due to the potential of its soil and sunshine. Ahead of the revolution, the vines belonged to the ‘Fréres Oratoriens’ giving it the name’ Clos des Oratoriens’. In 1938, the family de Tigny acquired the estate. The vineyard is now a quiet and splendid place for producing graceful and unique Saumur Champigny.

Their wines are made from the cabernet franc grape. This grape variety is perfect for the soft Oceanic climate of the Loire Valley in France. Low yields in the vineyard give wines a great concentration, colour and balance. Their popular wines include Chateau De Chaintres 2015 Old Organic Vine, Castle Chaintres 1989, Clos Des Oratoriens 2011, Cremant De Loire Blanc De Noir Organic, and more. All their wines are certified organic by Ecocert France since the 2013 vintage.

Château De Chaintres winery organises exhibitions, guided tours and wine tasting events for wine enthusiasts. You will love the peaceful, beautiful and unhurried atmosphere around the winery. So, if you are a wine lover and visit Loire Valley, trip to the Château De Chaintres vineyard. Indeed, you will love this place and its beautiful landscapes !
