A Historic Winery with a Family Legacy in the Loire Valley
Experience the Unique Clos du Château Appellation
Château de Chaintres spans twenty hectares in the heart of the Saumur Champigny appellation, featuring the renowned “Clos du Château.” This exclusive vineyard is celebrated for its exceptional size and quality, making it a must-visit for wine enthusiasts.
Rich Winemaking Tradition Since 1675
The vineyard's history dates back to 1675 when the Oratorian Fathers of Notre Dame des Ardilliers recognized the area's ideal soil and climate. Originally named ‘Clos des Oratoriens,’ the estate was acquired by the de Tigny family in 1938, who brought their passion for winemaking to life. Today, the vineyard is known for producing elegant Saumur Champigny wines primarily from Cabernet Franc, a grape variety that thrives in the Loire Valley's mild oceanic climate. The winery's low yields result in wines with remarkable concentration, color, and balance. Notable offerings include Château de Chaintres 2015 Old Organic Vine, Château de Chaintres 1989, Clos des Oratoriens 2011, and Crémant de Loire Blanc de Noir Organic. All wines have been certified organic by Ecocert France since the 2013 vintage.
