Giannis: A Young Winemaker Reviving Moschofilero

Set against the picturesque backdrop of ancient Mount Parnon, Ktima Tselepos is a family-owned winery located in the southeastern Mantinos plateau of Arcadia. This winery has grown significantly over the years, now producing an impressive 450,000 bottles annually. The Tselepos family also operates two sister wineries in different regions, further enriching Greece's wine landscape.

Celebrating Over Three Decades of Winemaking

Founded in 1989 by Giannis and Amalia Tselepos, Ktima Tselepos has made a significant mark in the Greek wine industry. The winery was established with a focus on producing exceptional wines from the Moschofilero grape. In 2003, the family expanded by acquiring a property in Koutsi Nemea, where they created the Dryopi Estate, specializing in Agiorgitiko grapes. In 2013, they added the Gold Canvas Tselepos winery, which highlights Assyrtiko grapes. Today, both generations of the Tselepos family collaborate to manage the winery's operations.

Dedicated Vineyards for Distinct Grape Varieties

The Tselepos family cultivates 450 acres of vineyards and rents an additional 200 acres across Arcadia. Each vineyard is dedicated to a specific grape variety, ensuring optimal quality. For instance, the Melissopetra vineyard exclusively grows Gewurztraminer, while the Red Mill vineyard focuses on Merlot. The Avlotopi vineyard is known for its high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon, and the Marble and Walking vineyards cultivate Chardonnay and Moschofilero, respectively. The diverse terroirs and soils across these parcels contribute to the production of high-quality wines, recognized with PDO and PGI labels.

One of the oldest wineries in Greece, with excellent wines and many awards here and abroad. Undoubtedly the result of the scientific approach to vine cultivation and winemaking methods. Although we visited as passing travelers, we were warmly welcomed and given a tour of the winery and tasting room. Thank you very much and we wish you always a good harvest.

Great people, warm and love what they do! You start with a car ride through the vineyards, then go to the wine cellar and then the tasting! The wines are known to be of high quality and surprise you! I was happy that there were local products to taste (cheese and breadcrumbs). I will be back!

The Tselepos Winery, located 14 km from Tripoli, was founded in 1989 and is, amongst other, well-known for its wines produced with the Moschofileto grape variety. 👍🙂👍 I always enjoy my visits to this winery where you can book a tour of its wineyards, followed by wine tasting experiences accompanied by cheese plates or cheese/ meat platters ( 3 different choices & prices). Personally, I really like their single-variety Blanc de Gris white wine, but on my recent visit after tasting their Gris de Nuit Rosé wine ... I left the winery with a bottle this rosé wine together with another top red wine ... . their red Ktima Driopi Reserve (Nemea) that I will enjoy with friends this coming weekend for Greek Easter. 🙂

We booked the premium tasting, and we got a 2 hours private tour guided by Eleni. The wines are incredibly tasty, and one can truly feel that Eleni loves her job. she guided us with lots of passion and knowledge, and she made us feel very welcome. Eleni took us to see the vineyard, which was amazing. I highly recommend visiting this winery, to hear the story, watch the amazing views, and to drink truly good wines.

We recently had the privilege of visiting the Tselepos winery, and it was an experience I'll treasure forever. From the moment we arrived, the scenic beauty of the vineyard captured our hearts, setting the stage for what was to be an unforgettable journey into the world of wine. The highlight of our visit, however, was the wine tasting experience led by the wonderful Dimitra and Maria. Their passion for winemaking and deep knowledge of each wine we tasted was truly inspiring. They didn't just guide us through the flavors and notes of each selection but also shared the stories behind the wines, enriching our appreciation for the craftsmanship involved. The Tselepos winery is not just about the exceptional wines, which, by the way, are a testament to the dedication and expertise of the winemakers, but also about the warmth and hospitality that Dimitra and Maria extended to us. They made us feel like part of the Tselepos family, and it was this personal touch that elevated our experience from great to extraordinary. I surely recommend Tselepos winery for anyone looking to explore Greek wines at their finest. It's a journey of taste, tradition, and the kind of hospitality that leaves you longing to return. We all left by buying the “Blanc de gris” white bottle of wine, but I also got the “Mantineia” (amazing taste!) and the “Nychteri” wine which is produced in the volcanic land of Santorini… imagine the taste! We also recommend Amalia Brut, the sparkling one, and please, ask for the romantic story behind it. Thank you once again!
