Château Saint Martin de la Garrigue, facing the sea
The history of Château Saint Martin de la Garrigue traces back to the year 987. In 2011, foreign investors purchased the winery and straight away excelled in the production of high-quality beverages appointing Jean-Luc Parret as manager. The estate located at the top of the hill faces the sea in Languedoc Roussillon. The spring frosts and mild temperatures benefit the ripening of the grapes.
A Large Range of Diverse Grape Varieties
The vineyards have a total of 18 grape varieties growing in the winery and these varieties cover over 50 plots. The era 1950 establishes varieties like the cardigan, Cinsault and Terret Bourret. In the 1980s, former owners planted in his winery Chardonnay, Cabernet, and Merlot grapes. A vast program of rebuilding the vineyard changes the majority of the production towards richer, more complex, and typified wines. St Martin has several types of terroir on which their grapes are growing. The light brown soils are particularly worthy of wine grape varieties. The red-brown gives the wine a beautiful constancy of aroma. The varying terroir adds a distinct licorice note that marks the wines of St Martin de la Garrigue.
