Masseria Borgo dei Trulli

Masseria Borgo dei Trulli is a farm that has purchased land in the best wine-growing areas of Salento, in particular in the municipalities of Sava, Manduria and Maruggio in the province of Taranto, where it mainly grows Primitivo, Negroamaro, Vermentino, Malvasia Bianca, Fiano, Sauvignon Blanc and in the municipality of Guagnano, in the province of Lecce, where it produces Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera grapes for the Salice Salentino DOC.

Identify an ancient farmhouse immersed in the vineyards, where to build the cellar to vinify the grapes and create excellent wines. The cellar is located in the municipality of Maruggio, in the district called Roselle, 5 km away as the crow flies from the Ionian Sea and is located in the heart of the DOP Primitivo di Manduria. In the area, scattered throughout the land, you can find a myriad of very characteristic ancient buildings, called Saracen trulli, and from this the agricultural company Masseria Borgo dei Trulli takes its name. Masseria is the term used in Puglia to identify the main rural building, the company center where the transformation and conservation of the agricultural product also takes place.

The winery was built in keeping with the surrounding landscape, next to an old restored farmhouse. You can see the contrast between the winery, a modern, technological construction, equipped with cutting-edge systems to best transform the grapes and preserve the wine, and the old farmhouse, once used as an animal shelter, built with the local stone called TUFO, with the architectural characteristic of arches and star-shaped vaults.

The balance and the architectural and functional synergy of the two areas allow the people involved to fully enjoy the working moment in the countryside and in the cellar with the moments of tasting and consumption of the products obtained.
