The first vines were planted on the 400-acre winery in 1970, and Matthey Barry, owner, and winemaker has continued his father’s sustainable work in the vineyards and the winery. They have the Australian Organic Classification, and a lot of care is taken to protect the environment and preserve the health of the vines. Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo, Lagrein, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier are the grapes grown in their vineyards. The best quality grapes are used to make their award-winning red, white, sparkling, and dessert wines. The work done in the vineyard ensures the best-quality grapes that give a natural fruity taste to the wines.
