A Winery that Started Operating in the Late 19th Century
Giovanni Bandino Bandini, the great-grandfather of Monica Raspi, purchased an ancient Riccieri furnace and converted it into farming land in 1890. Years passed, the family grew its roots deep into the fertile territory of Chianti. Later in 1982, Enzi and Inge extended the business by recovering two old vineyards and viola and producing wines. Joining her parents in their winemaking quest, Monica joined the family winemaking business in 2007. Enrico, her husband, supervises the sales and helps Monica in the vineyards.
Organic Cultivation Since 2012
Respecting the environment, Monica indulges herself in bio viticulture practices and grows two high-quality grapes, namely Sangiovese and Trebbiano. The vineyards cover the total area of six hectares on the other side of the road. Between the rows, she grows barley and clover to give a unique essence to the berries. During harvesting, the fruits are handpicked and moved to the modern cellar.
At Fattoria Pomona, the owner cultivates various olive groves, including Pendolino and Frantoio, followed by, Moraiolo and Leccino. There also exists a vegetable garden within the winery where a wide range of vegetables and fruits are grown, accompanied by hens, bees, and mushrooms. The place is worth to create some unforgettable memories.
