A Family Tradition of Winemaking in Tuscany
A Winery Surrounded by Natural Beauty and Historic Charm
Poggio al Chiuso is a picturesque farmhouse nestled in the heart of the renowned Chianti wine region. The estate is enveloped by lush vineyards and olive groves, offering a serene and panoramic view of the stunning Tuscan landscape. Conveniently located between Florence and Siena, this winery provides an ideal setting to appreciate the natural beauty and rich history of Tuscany.
A Legacy of Winemaking
The Corti family has been crafting traditional Tuscan wines for over 40 years. In 1948, following the Second World War, Narciso, a local wine-seller, passed away, leading his sons Renzo and Gino to obtain the first license for selling wines and oil. By 1956, the brothers decided to produce their own wines and purchased land at Poggio al Chiuso. Today, Mario's sons, Marco and Matteo, continue this cherished family tradition. The family has beautifully renovated the farmhouse, blending modern comforts with the rich culture of Tuscany while producing exceptional wines.
Sangiovese: The Crown Jewel of Italian Grapes
Poggio al Chiuso cultivates a variety of grapevines, with a special focus on Sangiovese. This grape reaches its peak expression in the Rosso IGT LECAPPELLE, a wine characterized by its aromatic profile and flavors of ripe fruit, reflecting the essence of Tuscan tradition. In addition to Sangiovese, the winery also grows Canaiolo, Merlot, and Trebbiano, producing high-quality red, rosé, and white wines. Just a short distance away lies Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, a charming town filled with delightful streets, restaurants, and shops. For families seeking a memorable experience in the beautiful countryside, a visit to Poggio al Chiuso is highly recommended.
