The Impact of Covid-19 on Wine Tourism – November 2020

The survey was conducted during one week in November. Over 1 200 wineries contributed with answers in order to help us understand the covid-19 impact on wine tourism. The survey focused on 5 questions in order to understand the general situation, as well as some in-depth questions to a selected subset of wineries. On the  covid-19 report page you can read our analysis. You can also browse answers per country and region, where we received sufficient numbers to provide relevant data.

Key findings from the report:

  • Covid-19 has had an extremely large impact on the wine tourism business for wineries.
  • The majority of wineries expect that wine tourism will return to pre-covid levels no earlier than 2022.
  • More than 80 % of wineries expect that wine tourism will grow in their region during the coming 10 years.

Online Wine Tastings around the World – Findings of a Global Survey

Winetourism.com presents the Global Report – “Online Wine Tastings around the World” The report is based on a survey that was conducted in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Gergely Szolnoki at Geisenheim University. The survey was held in January 2021. A total of 1,423 wineries from over 42 countries participated in the survey and 87 % of the wineries surveyed come from Old World countries.

The aim of the research is to evaluate the impact of the global pandemics on online wine tastings and tours and how did the wineries change their approach towards wine tourism services since pandemics started and if this concept of online wine tastings will continue and grow after a covid-19 period.

Sustainable Wine Tourism – Findings of a Global Survey

In November 2021, WineTourism.com together with Geisenheim University conducted an online global survey on Sustainable Wine Tourism. To gather reliable information on this topic, we collected answers from 1,579 wineries from more than 40 countries.

The survey results clearly show that sustainability has arrived in the wine industry and wine tourism and will undoubtedly play a significant role in the future.
