Podere Casa Piana was founded in the last months of 2018, named by Simone Abbondi, the current owner and producer.

From an early age, Simone developed a passion for his grandfather Pietro's work, who farmed the land and managed the small winery on the estate. He spent summers in the countryside, following his grandfather among the rows of vines and the barrels in the cellar. Simone continued his studies and, after graduating, took over his grandfather's small business in late 2018, restructuring and modernizing it, always under the watchful eye of his grandfather Pietro, now elderly, sitting in his chair under the porch, gazing out over the vineyard that remains dear to his heart.

Simone's goal is to continue producing a wine like the one his grandfather once made: a wine that, upon tasting, evokes all the characteristics of ripe grapes and the varietal's typical aromas; essentially, a completely natural wine that preserves all the properties of the grape bunch in its entirety.

“I want to drink a wine like the one my grandfather used to let me taste when I was little, I want to feel that taste again that was good and genuine, and I want to make it like he did, using his press, his barrels, cultivating the vineyard without chemical aids, respecting the biodiversity of the vineyard and the native vines that he cultivated.”

Since 2019, the land has been farmed organically, without the use of chemicals, pursuing the belief that a new way of respecting the land, the plants, and the passing of time through the seasons is necessary. We strive to convey through our wine not only its organoleptic characteristics but also the territory where it is grown, the history, and the passion behind each bottle of wine.

The company is located entirely within the Pignoletto area in the municipality of Valsamoggia.
It consists of approximately 7 hectares of land, including 3.5 hectares of vineyards, 500 m2 of olive groves, 1,800 m2 of forage crops, and the remaining woodland.
Walking and working on foot in the vineyard forces a man to grapple with the rhythms of the countryside, with the silences, with the defeats, with the emotion of smelling the flowers in the vineyard, with the joy of picking grapes with friends on workdays and holidays.

Stopped here with my two sisters to sample some wines. Giulia was our hostess and was a wealth of knowledge and hospitality. Beautiful small vineyard with a variety of different delicious wines to try.

It's a wonderful place. We felt very comfortable. The hosts were very warm and welcoming. The products were of the highest quality. Rabbits come right up to the edge of the vineyards, directly to the house. As darkness fell, we had a magical view of the lights of Bologna in the valley below. We would love to come back again.
