Wando Lodge Winery: following organically principles
The Wando Lodge Winery is situated in Henty, Australia in a beautiful landscape of rolling hills covered in red gum trees.
The vineyard is a single variety vineyard and covers one hectare of land that is exclusively for the growth of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes
The vineyard is managed strictly by organic principles and methods.
An holistic approach
The goal of the winemakers at Wando Lodge Wines is to use a holistic approach to create an environment where there is a perfect balance between the land, the vines and the cattle and horses bred on the winery. In doing so, compost and worm fertilisers are used to feed the soil, vines are attended only by hand and a drip irrigation system operates through the vines. With the small size of the vineyard, the objective of the winemakers at Wando Lodge Wines is to create small amounts of high-quality wine. The Wando Lodge Wines are smooth, round and full flavoured and have an alcohol content of approximately 13%. The grape bunches are hand-picked and sorted in the vineyard and later crushed and destemmed in the winery, following maturation in French oak barrels for as long as 18 months.
Discover the different vintages within a tasting
At the movement, there are 2013, 2015 and 2016 vintages held in cold storage with approximately 300 cases of each vintage. The 2014 and 2017 vintages were not harvested due to excessive rain and drought seriously affecting the quality of the grape. The wines produced at Wando Lodge Wines are the Cabernet Sauvignon and the Pinot Gris, which are both easy drinking and enjoyed by most wine lovers.
