Full day private tour in Douro Valley: wine tasting, lunch and sightseeing

Enjoy full day private tour in Douro valley. The tour is completely dedicated to your reservation group, with a guide to accompany you the entire time. The tour includes:

• We start with an early pick up at your hotel (Porto metropolitan area, including V.N. Gaia or Douro area);
• Our first stop will be in one of the remarkable cities in the Douro valley (Lamego, Vila Real or Peso da Régua). Our tour guide will take you to the most relevant landmarks and provide a glance of the local history.
• We proceed to a Porto winemaker cellar in the region. We will typically will take you to Quinta de Santa Eufémia, Quinta das Lamelas or Quinta do Mourão, depending on the date and availability. Here you will enjoy a Port wine tasting session, that will last around 45 minutes. You will have the chance to meet and greet the host and he will share some of his stories and details of his art and facilities.
• The visit will include a tour to the production site with detail explanation of the wine making process. The wine tasting include standard and superior wines of different port wines; typically they will include a white Port with twenty years, a ruby vintage, a regular Twany (from year '07,'08 or '09) and a Twany reserve with twenty years.
• Additional wine tasting of superior wines may be available on site with extra charge.
• Before lunch, there is a second stop for sightseeing in the famous viewpoint of São Leonardo da Galafura, a place immortalized in one of Miguel Torga’s poem. We will here also delight you with another glass of Port wine, preparing the rest of your tour.
• The main stop will be in one of our referenced winemaker in the region – either Ceira Wines or another partner, depending on dates and availability.
• The visit to the winemaker facilities – cellar, winery and vineyards – will take you to a journey in time to the beginning of the 20th century. The host will join you to share with you his familiar traditional business and some of the details of the winemaking process.Before lunch, enjoy a SUV offroad ride between the vineyards, until you reach the place where your lunch picnic will take place. Enjoy the degustation of the local cuisine treats, served with some of the best wines of the region.
• Drop-off at your hotel will take place between 5pm and 6pm
