Provence is a gorgeous region that has a lot to offer to visitors. In between wine tastings and tours, don’t forget to visit some of the great cities around the region.
– Marseille is the capital city of the whole Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region and it’s one of the most famous maritime cities in France. Marseille is a vibrant city that is dominated by the monument of Notre Dame de la Garde. From the hill where the sanctuary is, you will profit from a stunning view over the old port and the entire city.
– The luxurious seaside resort of St. Tropez is famous for being the favourite holiday destination of many A-List superstars. There are almost 40 beaches around the town, but there are actually many more yachts parked in the port.
– Arles is an eclectic city famous for its Roman legacy. Here, you can still see the incredible amphitheater and the Baths of Constantine. Arles is also famous for having been the home of several famous painters, to name a few Picasso and Van Gogh.
While driving around the Côte d’Aix-en-Provence sub-region, you will see Mont Sainte Victoire, a limestone mountain that became famous around the world for being the favorite subject of impressionist painter Paul Cézanne.
