Assovini Sicilia
Founded in 2016 during Sicilia en Primeur, Wine in Sicily is a platform dedicated to wine tourism, designed to guide travelers and winelovers through Sicily’s wineries and wine regions. Published by Assovini Sicilia and directed by Francesco Pensovecchio, the project brings together more than 100 member wineries, showcasing the island’s remarkable diversity. This heritage turns into real experiences through guided winery visits, tastings, vineyard tours, hospitality, and direct encounters with producers. Wine in Sicily is the gateway to discovering Sicily through wine: a digital space where visitors can explore wineries and book guided visits and tasting experiences, connecting wine with landscape, food, and local culture. An invitation to experience Sicily, one glass at a time.
Francesco Pensovecchio is a journalist and freelance professional working in the fields of food, wine, hospitality, and cinema. Based in Palermo, Sicily, he is the editor-in-chief of Wineinsicily.com, a magazine focused on Sicilian wine and the regional brand “Sicily,” published by Assovini Sicilia. He collaborates with leading national media outlets, institutions, and organizations including Slow Food Editore, Giornale di Sicilia, and Assovini Sicilia; in the past, he has written for Gambero Rosso, L’Espresso, and the Italian Sommelier Association (AIS). He is the author of Sicilia Continente Gastronomico (Giunti Editore, 2017). Active in the Slow Food movement for over twenty years, he has served as President of Slow Food Palermo and is currently a member of its board. He has extensive experience in wine and agri-food communication. He is a registered member of the Italian National Order of Journalists.
