Hi, I'm Jon "the Basque", a Profesional Tour Guide, ex-chef and wine lover originally from Zarautz, in the Txakoli wine region. I'm a wine lover who has been working as a guide for 6 years after studying tourism and hotel management. I have done several courses to manage and guide the best possible wine regions we have in the Basque Country. I give a lot of importance to the quality of the wine but also to the people around them and the landscapes, the terroir, and the history. It will be a pleasure to transmit to you my passion and to make you enjoy an unforgettable day.

I was born and live in the Txakoli wine region of Getaria and I am passionate about the wines of Rioja and Navarra, the unique vineyards, and the new trends of natural and biodynamic wines, where we appreciate the terroir.

We are lucky to have 6 wine regions around the Basque Country and it is amazing. The wine we have is excellent but I am also crazy about the landscapes that accompany each territory. That makes the experience doubly satisfying and impressive.

Wonderful experience!

We signed up for “Discover The Rioja Region” tour with Jon as our tour guide. Jon was amazing and so knowledgeable about the area. We had the opportunity to visit a a family owned winery and participate in wine tastings with the owner. Our other tastings were amazing as well - visited caves and learned the process of making/aging the wine. He also took us to some amazing sites with views that were breathtaking. One special memory is the lunch we had as Jon personally knew one of the wineries and we were hosted to have lunch in one of their underground areas complete with wine tasting and a delicious traditional Spanish lunch complete with fresh tomatoes, cheese, Jamon, tortilla and of course wine. In addition to being a great tour guide, Jon was an amazing photographer which allowed us to not worry about taking photos as he captured the memories for us. I highly recommend this tour with Jon as your guide. It is clear he is passionate about wine and making sure his guests have a memorable experience. You will not be disappointed.
