Tenuta Castelbuono is located in the heart of Umbria and is made unique by the Carapace, created by master sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro. This structure is an "author’s cellar for author’s wines," a singular work where art, nature, and sculpture come together, highlighting the exceptional nature of both the container and its contents. The design is inspired by the shape of a turtle, a symbol of stability and longevity, whose shell represents the union between earth and sky. The result is an absolutely unique masterpiece—the world’s first sculpture where you can both live and work, a place where art and nature, sculpture and wine are in dialogue.
Here originate powerful and captivating red wines such as Montefalco Sagrantino and Montefalco Rosso.
Enjoy an intimate and fully private guided tour, where you will explore the fascinating concept behind the "sculptural cellar," the Carapace. The experience concludes with a guided tasting, led by the sommelier, of the five wines produced at the Carapace winery.
The tasting is paired with a generous platter of cured meats, cheeses, and other local specialties. (Vegetarian or vegan option available upon request)
As a special gift, you will receive a bottle of Montefalco Rosso DOC.
As this experience is offered on a private basis, 1 month notice is required.
