We had an absolutely lovely personalised wine tasting at Grey Sands with Rita. Rita was incredibly warm and knowledgeable about the wines and we loved learning about the different varieties and hearing about the thought process that goes into the wines. On top of that, the wines were delicious! Some of the most complex and sublime we’ve ever tasted! We would definitely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Launceston! Not to be missed!

We had the most fabulous time meeting Rita, and tasting so, so many of the incredible wines made at Grey Sands Vineyard. We found Grey Sands after having a glass of one of their wines at a Hobart restaurant, and we knew we had to visit before leaving Tasmania. Rita was knowledgeable and it was such a delight to share stories with her. We even got to meet the resident cat, Yoda. The only disappointing thing was that our flight was that afternoon. We didn’t want to leave!! But, we purchased a few momentos in the form of incredible wine ☺️ The tasting is by appointment only, so make sure you contact Rita to organise a time. Thanks for such a beautiful experience and we hope to see you again!

Grey Sands is owned and operated by the wonderful Rita and Bob who moved in 1988 and set the vineyard up themselves. Bob crafts and wines and Rita does everything else!! Although only open by appointment, it is most definitely worth making an appointment as the welcome is warm, friendly and most accommodating, nice gardens to bring a picnic to enjoy with the wines and Bob crafts a very interesting and delightful range of wine and red wines all with a wonderful story attached to them, some of these wines and blends are unique not only in Tassie but also Australia wide, they also have a wine club that is very much worth signing up for to access the fabulous wines directly. A must visit for all wine lovers when visiting the Tamar Valley and all it takes is a quick phone to the charming Rita to confirm a time😊
