Generations into Winemaking

Javier Sanz Viticulture is a fifth-generation winery whose story starts in the late nineteenth century, when Agustín Nanclares, the great-grandfather of the current owner, Javier Sanz, founded this winery, one of the pioneering in Rueda, specifically in the village of La Seca.

Our goal is to make unique and great-quality wines, taking care of all the processes both in the vineyards and in the cellar. This involves recovering nearly extinct grape varieties as Malcorta o Cenicienta (Cinderella) so as to obtain different wines. Anyway, our star variety is Verdejo, native to Rueda and with which we elaborate most of our wines in different ways.

If you come to visit us, you will visit el 'Pago de Saltamontes', our pre-phylloseric vineyard, (2,27 Ha), which was registered in 1863, so it is more than 150-year-old and it is the oldest in the D. O. Rueda from which we still produce wine. There, you will learn our story, our vineyards and their characteristics, the grape's varieties with which we elaborate wines and the main characteristics of this region related to soil, climate, etc.

Keeping Traditions ALive

Later, in our restored eighteenth century church, la Orden Tercera, it will be time for tasting! Among their ancient but renewed walls, you will be able to taste two or four (it's your choice) of our wines. There, we will tell you all the secrets about their production processes and the different characteristics of every of them, both white or red, while you enjoy their aromas and flavours.
