French Oak Barrels are Used for the Aging of the Wines
Bodegas Valencioso Winery has many award-winning wines and is the only winery that uses concrete tanks for fermentation in the region. An Atlantic climate with low heat during the summer is prominent in La Rioja allowing grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. The soil is clay based and has an inferior quality limestone that is perfect for vine cultivation. The gate of the winery is a Juanjo Novella structure based on the veins of a vine leaf. Famous architect Alfonso Samaniego is the man behind the building of Bodegas Valencioso Winery. The winery was built using traditional materials but still has modern features and an ample amount of space. They make use of French oak barrels for the aging of their wines. French oak provides a pleasant taste and fragrance, along with giving lovely complexity and longevity to the wines.
Tempranillo is the Main Variety
The main variety of grape that grows here is the Tempranillo that goes into making the famous red wines of the La Rioja region. Bodegas Valencioso Winery combines traditional values with hard work and dedication to produce wines that show the uniqueness of the Rioja region along with the hard work of the winemakers.
