Crotta Winery, A Large Array of Wine in the Heart of Mendoza
Enhanced by picturesque landscapes, the Crotta Winery is located in the superior wine-growing region of Mendoza, in the mesmerizing town of San Martin. Today, the winery boasts over 42 types of wines in their portfolio and thrives on increasing the number of offerings while maintaining superb quality.
The Origins of Crotta Winery Date Back to 1930
In the year 1930, an Austrian immigrant Wilhelmina Ritz, along with his wife, established Crotta Winery in Mendoza. Later his grandchildren, Claudia, Carlos, and Carolina, continued their grandfathers’ legacy continuing to deliver the most excellent wines. Their traditional methods, combined with creative ideas, reveal that the family’s winemaking tradition and innovative spirit are still alive. Years of dedication and passion for producing various types of varietal and dual varietal wines are what make Crotta stand out among other wineries.
The vineyards are beautifully positioned throughout the Central Valley of Mendoza, where Carlos Eduardo Crotta still cultivates a vast range of vines. This includes bold Malbec, Bonarda, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Tempranillo, along with high-end Chardonnay and Torrontes.
Utilizing a large array of grape varieties, the Crotta Family produces spectacular red, white, and sparkling wines.
Visit the Stunning Cellar of Crotta Winery
Crotta’s wine cellar is situated inside a 33-meter high tower that stores 450 thousand liters of wine. Carlos Leopoldo Crotta, the second generation of winemakers, designed the tower and its large wine vats with cutting edge work. For storing and wine aging, they use barrels manufactured by the Bajda Family, a famous cooper from Slovenia. The family also built a unique barrel, known as The Dionijiz Tonel, a vital winery jewel.
