Recaredo’s Sparkling Wines are Aged with Cork Stoppers for 30 Months

Cava Recaredo is a family-run winery located in the Alt Penedès wine region, surrounded by vineyards and wood. The winery strictly follows an organic winemaking regime. Recaredo is well-known for its driest style sparkling wines aged with cork stoppers, keeping the herbal aromas intacted. The family’s organic commitment also resulted in the production of still white wines known as Can Credo.

Ninety-Six Years of Sheer Commitment Towards Viticulture & Winemaking

A beautiful tale was started in 1924 when Josep Mata Capellades built a small wine cellar under his home in the historic center of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia. He named the winery after his father’s name, Recaredo, who was a pot maker. In 1962, he produced the first batch of Reserva Particular de Recaredo, accompanied by his sons, Josep and Antoni. Over the years, the brothers continued to upgrade the winery’s functions. Later in 1990, the third generation began working in the cellar and vineyards, giving birth to new ideas.

Organic Viticulture with Respect to Nature & Traditions

Recaredo Winery started following biodynamic practices in 2006. The winemaking Family is specialized in traditional varieties of Penedès, Xarel·lo is the flagship variety and an essentially gastronomic sparkling wine profile. Besides, they grow Macabeu, Parellada, Monastrell, and Garnatxa. In 2017, the estate was honoured by the Association of Sommeliers (ACS) as Catalonia’s Best Winery. Today, the winery has opened a new chapter in its history by joining Corpinnant. It is a European Union in Penedès launched intending to produce rich-quality sparkling wines.
