Tenuta Santa Caterina, a Beautiful Winery in a Charming Small Village
Tenuta Santa Caterina is located in the municipality of Grazzano Badoglio, a lovely village with a population of 600 people. The Italian style gardens surround this beautiful and graceful estate, giving a fantastic view to everyone who visits it. The lush vineyards around the picturesque countryside grow many high-end vines.
An Abbey Becomes a Winery
The winemaking history of Tenuta Santa Caterina dates back very far into the past. In 961, Santa Caterina was the defensive bulwark for the abbey building. Over the years, several families had bought this estate. In the year 1737, Lodovico and Pietro Plebano transformed the abbey buildings into a farm estate. In the thirties, a family from Turin owned this estate and did agriculture practices on the land for decades. Since 2000, the Alleva Family owns the winery and have restored and renovated the buildings and starting to produce wine respecting the history and the surroundings of this charming property.
