Viña El Escorial- an Old Boutique Family Winery in Quinta’s Panquehue
Viña El Escorial is an old boutique family winery in Quinta’s Panquehue in the center of the Aconcagua Valley, near the cities of Santiago and San Felipe. The winery was formerly known as Hacienda El Escorial de Panquehue and managed by Don Santiago. In 2009, Cristina and Rodrigo Carey decided to revive the winery and even planted vineyards at this land. They have around two hectares of vineyards now on two separate terroirs. One is around 600 meters while the other is 1600 meters above sea level in the Cordillera de Los Andes mountains.
The Aconcagua Valley has a moderate microclimate with an average temperature of 16 degrees. Work is done on the vineyards and cellar using centuries-old traditions and methods. A combination of culture, modern technology, and favorable conditions allow them to grow healthy, fruity grapes for making the best wines. Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese, Syrah, Malbec, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Muscat, Petite Sirah, and Petit Verdot are the traditional and newer grape varieties grown here. The grapes are used to make their famous red, white, dessert, and fortified wines.
Their Famous Wines
The cellar is supervised by Verena Mardones and Victor Vargas, who ensure high standards in every step of winemaking. The Cava de Guarda has 12000 bottle capacity and maintains the right temperature for the storage of wines. You can enjoy the Cornisa Height wine, Portillo, Muscat Late Harvest, and many other famous wines from their collection.
They have excellent infrastructure for wine tourism, a marvelous underground cava with Romanic arcs.
