Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Chardonnay are Sourced from all over New Zealand
Volcanic Hills Winery sources fruit from all over New Zealand, bringing many regional delights to their tasting room in the North Island. The climate of one such region, the Central Otago, in the south of the southern island, is cool and close to the Antarctic and is perfect for the growth of New Zealand’s award-winning Pinot Noir. They choose the best grapes from the best wine-growing regions, and the grapes arrive cool and fresh, ready to be processed further. The main grape varieties used are Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Chardonnay. The best quality grapes go into the production of their superb red, white, rosé, sparkling, and fortified wines.
De-stemming and French Oak Barrels at the Winery
The de-stemming machine gently removes the grapes and then stems are later used to feed certain animals. The wines are fermented under the perfect conditions. After that, the wines of Volcanic Hills age in French oak barrels for almost a year, giving the wine an intense taste and structure. The range of their wines is excellent, we invite you to join the owners in the Rotorua tasting room today.
